"HOME D.I.Y" Kids Public Speaking by Johan Speaking Academy

Last month I have enrolled my son for the HOME D.I.Y Kids Public Speaking. Since my children are staying home, it's good to enroll my son for the public speaking. My eldest son Sean has attended the workshop of Johan Speaking Academy: Kids Public Speaking when he was young, he's now a teenager. Now is Sean's brother to join the Kids Public Speaking, it's the HOME D.I.Y Kids Public Speaking specially designed for kids age 7 years old to 10 years old. Where can just do this at our cozy home without going out. It's also good bonding time for parent and child.

Sharing is caring Johan Ooi, the founder of Johan Speaking Academy. They have been teaching kids public speaking since 2014, and they are located at Taman Tun Dr Ismail. they have partners who also took their licensing program and operating in 10 different locations across Klang Valley. They have taught more than thousands of kids to speak on stage with their proven method.

When covid-19 hit us, they moved their lessons online, with teachers teaching kids LIVE on zoom. They are lucky they can still pivot online. Kids enrichment is one of the hardest hit industry after tourism, airline, events and retails@ malls. The physical outlet has not been operating for 8 months since March 2020.

They have kids from Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, USA and Hong Kong signing up for online classes. Thus, they've created this pre-recorded on demand videos so that they can cater to students who are of different time zone and wants to learn at their own pace. Also, they do not need teachers to be present at odd hours to teach kids from afar, and this Home DIY is self learn, at your own pace. Easily put, is just like videos on youtube which you watch, as all those videos are pre-recorded. They have more than 100+ videos, resources and downloaded PDF's for your kids age 6 - 12 years old to learn.

What is the Kids Public Speaking benefits?

  • Build confidence
  • Future use for them in college or career
  • Enhance communication skills

I find this is good program for him and gives him the confidence to speak up as well. He's pretty nervous of speaking up but it's good he had step up in first step on Self Introduction.

Home D.I.Y, Kids Public Speaking, how does it work ?

They have 12 months of content as each month your child will learn new skills on public speaking.

They have step-by-step process for them to follow. It is affordable, and better still, if you have 2 or 3 kids at home, you guys can learn concurrently.

All for only USD 97 per year on a yearly subscription basis. This is launch price as the actual price is USD 197.

Ghouls, goblins and of course candies are what Halloween is all about

Last month October, did you bring your children for any Halloween activities? My son had a good spooky fun Halloween activities in the month of October. Today, I am sharing with you a video which my son enjoyed himself during the Trick or Treat at the Curve. It's first time he went this mall for Halloween trick or treat.

Ghouls, goblins and of course candies are what Halloween is all about. In celebration of the spookiest time of the year, the Curve and eCurve entertained patrons with a thrilling yet fun experience at both malls during Halloween.

Both malls were decked out in cute Halloween decorations complete with grinning jack-o-lanterns and skeletons sprawled against gnarled trees which greeted visitors as they entered the premises. Adding on to the mysterious ambiance were creepy crawlies and bats dangling on the tree branches, which made for a fang-tastic time for all!

As an added treat for kids, the Curve and eCurve also hosted a trick-or-treating session, where a group of 70 children dressed up in their wackiest and most creative costumes to go around selected tenants to receive candies, gifts and various other goodies.

My son says he likes the Halloween trick or treat and its his hard work going through it so he deserves all the candies he gets. Sharing is caring he did shared it with his brother and me. It was nice to accompany him on this Halloween trick or treat, it's good having a weekend spend with him. His brother and dad too were in the same mall, they waited for us til it over.

Gina Long Ahmad, Acting Centre Manager, the Curve said, “Halloween has gained more popularity with Malaysians over the years, which is why we decided to bring back the Halloween trick-or-treating activity for the third time this year! As a family-oriented mall, it is of our utmost importance to organise family friendly activities, where kids and their parents can join in on the fun too. We hope our little participants had a blast going around the mall and making some new friends along the way as well.”

Its important to balance our lifestyle, if you like to know more bout the year end activities please visit www.curve.com.my or their  Facebook: www.facebook.com/theCurveShoppingMall

Pretending and dramatic play drives child development

Being mom of two boys, now they have turned 12 years old and 7 years old. Time fly and I see that pretending and dramatic play improve child development. They have many roles to play in life as a child. Learning to make jewelry, it's not easy task but they tried by putting each bead and matching the color of beads turn it into beautiful bracelet.

Sean learning to be youtuber
Importance of role play for kids is that kids learn to solve problems, coordinate, cooperate and think flexibly.
Education are important but it's good to balance them out by giving them chance to express themselves. For example above Sean being a kid tour guide. He got to learn about the animal names and habitat sharing it with the tourists.
Talking about tour guide, there was time where he and his brother pretend to be tour guide agent at the KidZania pretending they are making a field trip information.
Pretending and dramatic play drives child development, the other day we went to a shopping mall. There's information on how to perform CPR and here goes my little one, hands on to learn on rescue and CPR process. It's not an easy tasks but at least he knows of how real real life issues, cultivate social and emotional intelligence. Kids learn about themselves and the world.

Role playing activities encourage children to learn about themselves and the world around them. It builds confidence, creativity, communication, physical development and problem-solving skills. Take example of above my little one, trying to cut up the banana into pieces it helps with improving his motor skills.

pretending that he's going to rescue someone at the top.

My personal ideas and tips on role-playing activities can be anywhere anytime even at home. Well, there's KidZania Kuala Lumpur which is an interactive learning edutainment theme park for kids that helps to prepare them for the real world by immersing them in simulated adult occupations and real-life situations andits role-play activities are aimed to helping kids to learn life today " - all of which support a child's social emotional resilience.
