Besides providing education to our kids, it's also important teaching kids to save money and it's best to start them young. It's never too late to get start our kid to start saving money, every kid has a wish and I am sure you know that they would asking for toys or gadgets. We can't always buy what they have wished for but it's better to get them to understand the value of money. How they can save money from young, it's not just for buying a gift for themselves but also teaches them that money doesn't comes easily. Sharing is caring, Hong Leong Bank new launch with HLB Pocket Connect, parents can start introducing financial management and education and imparting the value of money to the children from a young age. It is useful app as kids will have to earn money it by setting goals and working towards them and one step closer to their goals.

Teaching your children about money as early as possible is about giving them a head start and time to practice their financial abilities before they become adults.

The topic of financial literacy and education has long been a challenging proposition and perhaps even a difficult topic to broach for many Malaysians. The Malaysian Insolvency Department reported a startling data that youth bankruptcy - involving those aged below 35 - made up 25.2% of bankruptcy cases from 2017 to 2019 in the country. This shows an urgent need to make financial literacy and education a key life skill to be taught to all Malaysians.

Just like charity begins at home, forming a life-long healthy relationship with money should begin at home, as early as possible. In the age of everything digital, parents can now leverage on digital tools to help them educate and engage their digital native children effectively to be financially-conscious and responsible.

HLB Pocket Connect is an interactive and personalised banking platform built for digital natives who are well acquainted with and demand hyper-personalisation, real-time gratification and highly interactive content and experiences. Available to all HLB 3-in-1 Junior Account holders, it has three proprietary features namely Earn, Save and Spend, which enable children to learn to be financially responsible under the watchful eyes of their parents, who are able to guide, manage and monitor their children’s pocket money and savings.

Under the Earn feature, parents can set tasks or goals and reward their children with extra pocket money when they complete them. Not only does this teach children the value of hard work and earned money, it also gives them sense of achievement when they are able to meet their goals.

As the account comes with reloadable Junior Debit Card for children to Spend, parents can have peace of mind knowing that they can monitor and control their children’s pocket-money spending. Not only can they top-up the pocket money through seamless transfer from their HLB Connect, they can set spending limits, control where and what their children can spend on as well as monitor real-time spending of their children.

Parents can also block or freeze the Junior Debit Card instantly if they suspect any fraudulent or improper spend, all done through their HLB Connect. To inculcate a savings habit, HLB Pocket Connect will soon have a customizable Save feature which allows children to set their savings goals for things that they want and allowing them to track their savings through progress reports.

Not many parents know about it, I am glad to share it with you here. HLB has made it very easy to open a bank account. Parents who are interested to open a 3-in-1 Junior Account can conveniently do so by vising the Bank’s official store on Shopee (www.shopee.com.my/hongleongbank.os) anytime, anywhere. Upon “purchasing” the account, a HLB representative will be in touch and come to you, assisting with the account opening process without needing you to visit any physical branches. We visited the SuperPark Malaysia, the friendliest all-in-one indoor activity park originating from Finland, yesterday introduced SuperDayCamp, a unique school holiday programme packed with exciting guided sporting activities. This camp promises one to three days of fun and happiness in a safe indoor environment to foster fitness, social-cognitive abilities and teamwork during the year end school holidays in November and December.

Designed and approved by the Finland Education Board, largely regarded as one of the best education systems in the world, SuperDayCamp provides a gadget-free alternative for all children between the ages of four to ten years old. With a small 1:7 coach-to-child ratio, campers will be guided through a series of engaging play activities within the park to develop physical, mental and emotional wellbeing while making new friends in a supervised and fun environment. SuperPark coaches aim to inspire participants with the power of sports while giving them a boost in confidence, motivation and leadership to grow and be successful in school and in life.

“Extending our core concept of the ‘power of play’, SuperDayCamp strengthens relationship, builds trust and supports self-confidence, giving children an early head-start in developing a strong foundation of important life skills. Certified by the Finnish Education Board, this day camp offers a multi-layered learning experience where participants can break a sweat while having fun in a social setting. It is conducted in an environment free from outside elements such as rain and heat, offering parents peace of mind on the whereabouts of their children this school holiday,” said Andes S.H Wong, Senior Marketing Manager, SuperPark Malaysia.

It was reported recently that more than half of Malaysian adolescents choose a sedentary lifestyle, preferring to sit for hours without any physical activities. They are also increasingly reliant on gadgets as some have been using digital devices as young as two to three years old.

Speaking at the launch event, Charlene Marie Samuel, Director of Autism Behavioral Center and a trained Applied Behavior Analysis therapist said, “Active play time is crucial for a child’s overall development especially during their formative years. It allows them to learn important skills like problem-solving, working in teams, pushing boundaries, and adapting to new environments – all of which will be extremely useful as they grow older.”

My son having a good time at the Super Day Camp, as you can see the above photo the children are guided through a series of engaging play activities within the park. My son was shy and he gets along after he started engaging in the activities, he also build confidence in paddle the bicycle on his own later on.

My son didn't know how to paddle on two wheels bicycle, this is good practice for him. On the spot, he gets to learn on how to control his balance and moving left to right to avoid hitting the cones. He has the confidence to paddle on himself after the practice of paddle he learned the skill from there.

My son is so happy as after the day camp, he continue the fun activities in the park. He was given a choice of choosing big or small paddle bicycle. He chosen the big paddle bicycle to paddle. You can check out the short video I have added in the post. It's fun indoor park where I don't have to worry about my son when there's rain or heat outside.

Good day to dear readers and visitors of my blog. Everyone has got a busy lifestyle, especially parents. Juggling from work and chores at home, there's more when it comes to newborn baby. Becoming a parent can be the greatest yet most challenging experience with both joyful as well as stressful moments. No parent can ever be fully prepared for the role. Each day offers a new learning curve and for young parents, access to a knowledge and support network is priceless to help them manage the huge responsibility that comes with having a newborn.

Tollyjoy Baby Day 2019 launches Partners in Parenting with YB Hannah Yeoh (standing L to R)Ben Ashaari (Blogger Dad), Charles Wong (Executive Director, Tetap Tiara), Pn Suzliana Abd Hamid (Deputy Director, Selangor Public Library Corporation, PPAS), Hannah Yeoh (Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development), Mark Tan (Director, Tollyjoy Corporation), Pn Nor Aishah Osman (Trustee of OrphanCARE Foundation), Ms Khor Geok Kee (Director, Tolloyjoy Corporation)& Alan Oh (Confinement Dad)

Understanding this psyche and the need to journey with parents as they bring up their babies, Tollyjoy Corporation has collaborated with PPAS (Perbadanan Perpustakaan Awam Selangor) Jaya One and OrphanCare Foundation (OrphanCare) to launch Partners in Parenting,an educational platform that will bring together parents and subject matter experts to share insights, experiences and knowledge while forging a ‘parent support network’; all with a view to help young parents navigate the journey of raising up and establishing strong bonds with their babies.

Unveiling of Partners in Parenting on Tollyjoy Baby Day 2019 by YB Hannah Yeoh, alongside Mr Mark Tan (Director, Tollyjoy Corporation)

This session featured prominent social influencer and full-time father,Ben Ashaari and confinement’ dad,Alan Oh who ensured that the right care and confinement practices were adhered to.

In sharing his experience as a full-time digital in fluencer dad, Ben said that he chose to opt out from the work force to be a full-time father as he was concerned about placing his three children under child-care support. His decision made a significant difference for his wife as she was able to return to full-time work. “I am a walking testament that it is possible to assume a full-time father’s role to lend a positive effect on the well-being of our children’s future. As a father, it is important to be a great support to your child and your spouse as well. I strongly believe that a nurturing, loving father provides a vital foundation to a strong family, added Ben.

Meanwhile,Alan Oh assumed a unique role quite unlike that of any other father. He focused on being a confinement dad. He learnt about confinement practices and helped nurture his wife back to optimal health, there by allowing her to focus on caring for their newborn baby.

“The arrival of a newborn is a period where parenting is at its toughest, especially for young parents. However, it is also the most rewarding time if the mother and baby are given their space to flourish. It is an excellent time to create wonderful memories with the mother and this can be a powerful force of bonding between the parents and the newborn baby, enthused Oh.

I am glad that I am there for the launched, its good to know their sharing on parenting experienced as fathers by Ben and Alan. Raising a child takes both mom and father commitment and tolerance to support each other for the well being in the family.

In the course of the year, Partners in Parentingwill feature a wide range of topics covering pre-pregnancy, post-pregnancy, babies and toddlers health and juggling motherhood beyond pregnancy.

I am sure you like to know where the topics going to be held. The sessions will be held at PPAS, Jaya One.
