McDonald’s and RMHC boost students’ morale ahead of the 2020 school year

Good day dear readers and visitors of my blog. Sharing is caring, and I would like to share about an event that I recently attended, which was organised by McDonald's Malaysia. McDonald’s Malaysia and its charity of choice, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Malaysia, launched the “Back-to-School” 2019 programme on 18 October 2019, marking the third year of the programme. This year,30,000 primary school children nationwide will receive “Back-to-School” packs to motivate and spur them to study hard when attending school.Through its ‘Scale for Good’ strategy where McDonald’s leverages the strength of its brand to create a positive impact on communities, societies, and the planet, RM3 million was successfully raised under this programme this year to ease the financial burdens of under privileged as well as urban poor families ahead of the upcoming school year.

Everyone has a busy lifestyle and parents are working, while children are studying in school. We need to balance our lifestyles to have some bonding time with our children. Have you ever thought about children who are less fortunate than ours?

“McDonald’s Malaysia believes that education is a crucial area that requires uncompromised attention. These children are the future of our nation, and we strongly believe that each of them deserves to be given the right opportunities to succeed. We understand that the cost of school expenses can be quite daunting for parents and guardians at the start of each school year. So we hope that this contribution, in its own way, will provide relief to alleviate any financial concern for families,” said Azmir Jaafar, Managing Director and Local Operating Partner of McDonald’s Malaysia.

The “Back-to-School” programme this year will be the largest so far, with RM3 million raised. In 2018, McDonald’s Malaysia delivered “Back-to-School”packs worth RM1.7 million to 17,000 primary school students, compared to the previous year, which saw McDonald’s Malaysia and RMHC reaching out to 6,000 students with RM1.2 million raised. Each child will receive a “Back-to-School” pack, consisting of a set of school uniform, a pair of shoes, and a school bag worth RM100 under this programme. When going back to school, the important things for children are not just their school uniforms but also their shoes, socks and a school bag. The backpacks would help motivate the school children to start the 2020 school year with excitement. And, this would also make them happy and secure by having their own backpacks that they can use daily for school.

The Back-to-School programmeis one of the initiatives under the Ministry of Education’s collaboration programme with McDonald’s Malaysia in 2019.

Among McDonald's Malaysia’s partners who have contributed to the initiative include Kerry Ingredients Sdn Bhd, Visa Worldwide Pte. Limited, Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Kumpulan Hartanah Selangor Bhd, Aladdin Pacific(M) Sdn Bhd, Glades Guppy Packaging Malaysia Sdn Bhd, and Huhtamaki Foodservice Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

Deputy Education Minister YB Teo Nie Ching was also present at the event as the guest of honour to distribute Back-to-Schoolpacks at Sekolah Kebangsaan Klang Gate for the launched.

“The Ministry of Education is very pleased with the initiative undertaken by McDonald's Malaysia and RMHC Malaysia. In fact, this is in line with the Ministry's commitment to provide quality education to all students, which also includes providing necessities and school supplies,”said Deputy Education Minister YB Teo Nie Ching.

Indeed, poverty and financial hardship are among the issues that lead to student dropouts in primary and secondary schools. The implementation of theBack-to-School programme by a private entity such as McDonald’s Malaysia is not only an added value, but is also an example of a public-private partnership which the Ministry encourages for the benefit of the community. It is also my hope that the programme will boost the confidence of these children to go to school,”added YB Teo Nie Ching.

As now you know this programme is a collaborative effort between McDonald's Malaysia, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Malaysia and the Ministry of Education Malaysia. It is targeted for the underprivileged and urban poor primary school children in Malaysia, to motivate them and to start the 2020 school year on a high note.

The “Back-to-School” packs will also be distributed in stages throughout other states nationwide until the end of the year,as part of McDonald’s Malaysia’s Community Program that encompasses various community initiatives to support under privileged children. All of these efforts by McDonald’s is to really bring cheer to the children in need across Malaysia.

RMHC is McDonald’s Malaysia’s charity of choice that aims to help underprivileged children in Malaysia. We can give a helping hand by donating to RHMC donation boxes, as every centcounts. Members of the public and McDonald’s customers can also play their part in this ongoing initiative by dropping their donation into the RMHC donation boxes at all McDonald’s restaurants nationwide.

Come 2020, more than 53,000 primary school children would have benefited from McDonald's Malaysia and RMHC's 'Back-to-School' programme!

Sharing is caring, and I urge all of you to be a part of this by donating or volunteering for RMHC Malaysia. Please contact the headquarters of RMHC Malaysia at 03-7843 3388 or visit  https://rmhc-malaysia.my/get-involved/make-a-donation/  to make an impact on a child’s life.

Thank you,McDonald's Malaysia for inviting me!I'm happy to have witnessed the happy faces of the children with their 'Back-to-School' backpacks. It's really good to see McDonald's Malaysia’s continuous commitment in giving back to the community within which it operates in.

KLEENEX® MAKES SOFTNESS A MALAYSIAN WAY OF LIFE

KLEENEX® MAKES SOFTNESS A MALAYSIAN WAY OF LIFE
  • Share the Softness and celebrate Malaysia Day by bringing a caring and gentle touch to everyone
  • Join forces to make a difference and create 10,000 posts on Facebook to help more orphans find loving homes through OrphanCARE

As Malaysians celebrate the establishment of the Malaysian federation 50 years ago, Kleenex® gives Malaysians a new way to mark the occasion – by performing simple acts of softness through the Share the Softness campaign. The campaign aims to reach at least 10, 000 posts to create a tidal wave of softness among Malaysians!

Every occasion, big and small, can be made meaningful with a touch of softness, and Kleenex® reminds more Malaysians everywhere to make Malaysia a softer place by taking a moment to reach out to their loved ones and share a kind or caring word. From now until September 27, the brand invites Malaysians to express their care via Facebook with a simple tag and stand a chance to be rewarded with prizes worth RM10, 000.

What’s more, these acts of softness take on a whole new meaning as every Facebook post also helps to contribute towards OrphanCARE, a non-profit organisation that helps abandoned babies and orphans find loving homes.

Take this chance to make a difference in the lives of those around you, as well as those who are less fortunate – even psychologists recognise that the little things really matter, from small gestures between loved ones like making each other a cup of tea1 to being more polite and courteous when speaking to one another2. Simple and positive acts are the key to building and leading a happier life3, and researchers acknowledge that a single individual has the power to influence the way another person feels4, hence a single act of softness can make a big difference in someone else’s life.

Love the Kleenex protect and Kleenex facial tissue, they are suitable for travel size to use.
Even my 3 year old toddler knows how to keep himself clean, it's gentle on skin.
I bring along the Kleenex Protect Hand Sanitizing Moist Wipes with me so that I can use it for myself or even on my loved ones. It's gentle, alcohol free formula, safe for children.

Whether it’s a simple encouragement or an invitation to catch up, a touch of softness can make someone feel treasured.  To participate, all you have to do is ‘Like’ Kleenex® Malaysia’s Facebook page, look out for the “Share The Softness” Facebook contest posts, and start sharing the softness. Tag a spouse, friend, family member, or neighbour in the comments section of the contest posts and let them know how much you care. Do include #kleenexsoftness too!

My sons taking care of each other, they share the love and joy together.
The joy of seeing them helping each other to clean up warm up my heart.
I am happy of their being caring each other, they are my pride and joy.
I had ectopic pregnancy before having my boys.
I conceived my boys with only left fallopian tube.

Done my entry to join the "Share The Softness" Facebook contest posts, you can join too, don't forget to tag your loved one then hashtag #kleenexsoftness

The most endearing messages will win an exclusive, limited edition Kleenex® Softness Pack and prizes like a Polaroid camera, Longchamp bag, Thomas Sabo bracelet, and more!
Not forgetting those who are less fortunate, every Share the Softness post on Facebook plus every purchase from the Kleenex® CSR product range is equivalent to a RM0.50 donation to OrphanCARE; just SMS in the unique code found in the Kleenex® products.
