KidZania Kuala Lumpur’s Be A Star Variable Programme returns for a glitzier second season!
It's Friday, good day to readers and visitors of this blog. School holidays is about to start, have you got plan for your children? It's been raining couple of days, sure parents want their children to stay safe and indoor so we don't worry about the rain or shine! KidZania Kuala Lumpur’s Be A Star
variable school-holiday programme is back for a second season by popular
demand, following stellar reception from the programme’s debut last
year.
Present at the launch were representatives from collaborating partners comprising Canon, TeaLive, Suu Balm, Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC), F&N, BFM 89.9, the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) and Aqademi.
Speaking at the launch, Shahrul Nizar Ahmad, Mayor of KidZania Kuala Lumpur said, “As we are all aware, some of the best and biggest dreamers out there are kids. So this school holiday, we want to give kids the “star treatment” they truly deserve by exposing them to performing arts and entertainment industry based activities like acting, modelling, singing, dancing, grooming and hosting while also exposing them to today’s current technology to truly give them a hands-on, in-depth experience of what it would be like to ‘Be A Star’.”
“The return of the STARZ Talent Contest this year also brings an exciting element to the mix. There are many kids who possess various talents but don’t get the opportunity to showcase them within the four walls of the classroom setting. Not only does this talent contest allow participants the opportunity to discover what they are good at, it also encourages healthy competition as well as equip them with important life skills as they learn the value of critical feedback, both positive and constructive. Moreover, what we offer is a safe, educational, family-oriented way to gain knowledge about the talent industry,” he added.
Submission of entries for the STARZ Talent Contest will open from 16 to 30 November 2019. The four contest categories include Star Model, Star Singer, Star Presenter and Star Dancer. Aspiring young stars are encouraged to submit an audition video showcasing their talents in singing, dancing, acting or modelling. After which, three finalists from each category will be shortlisted to battle it out at the Final Stage on 28 December 2019.
KidZania Kuala Lumpur’s Be A Star programme runs from 23 November to 3 January 2020 to coincide with the year-end school holidays. Staying true to KidZania’s philosophy of empowering children to “Learn Life Today”, the programme encourages the development of core life skills that will prepare kids for the future such as overcoming shyness, building confidence, and developing positive self-esteem, learning proper etiquette and good manners, and strengthening the ability to interact with others.
Apart from the talent contest, six main activities and six weekend workshops will be featured amidst a special activity exclusively for loyalty programme members and other establishment activities to take place within KidZania Kuala Lumpur.

The World Animal Day is an international day celebrated
The World Animal Day is an international day celebrated every 4th of October with a mission to raise the status of animals in order to improve welfare standards around the globe. This annual celebration which dates back to 1925 unites the international animal welfare movement, mobilising it into a global force to make the world a better place for all animals.
To coincide with the special day, Sunway Lagoon’s Wildlife Park – an interactive and educational zoo featuring more than 140 species-specific exhibits of exotic animals and a diverse range of birds, fish, reptiles and mammals from around the world – held a special campaign to urge you to do your part to create a more sustainable world.
How we spend our last Saturday? We were specially invited to Sunway Lagoon Wildlife Park’s World Animal Day event to enjoy a host of activities and initiatives specially curated to mark this meaningful celebration. These included an Ecobrick making workshop, a take home garden workshop, meet & greet with Bani the Wildlife Park ambassador, a display by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (PERHILITAN), and Save the Earth Pledge wall, where visitors can mark their pledge towards reducing single-use plastics. This year we teamed with Ayu, and our team named Otter Heaven, because food for Otter looks like heaven. Last year we had prepared food for porcupines.
It's not easy tasks as we got to join the challenge, Sunway Lagoon Wildlife Park Jumanji Challenge where we have to completed the 7 tasks to collect each item for the materials and food for the Otter. Wanna know of the tasks? We got to visit every station to complete the task in order to get the item/food. The seven stations to visit as following:
We got to complete it as teamwork, for example the looking for the answer card in the worms tank. Each of us got to put our hand in the tank to find the card, we couldn't see the card as got to feel it with our hand card is hidden deep in. Yeah first time putting my hand in, feeling many worms around. I taken a card out but its not the answer so is next team member to try grab the correct card. Are you fear of worms? If you like to see more can visit my video, by click on the link.
In recent years, the Wildlife Park at Sunway Lagoon has stepped up efforts towards being more sustainable. Among these, Sunway Lagoon announced its support towards two of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) set by the United Nations. The SDG programme contains a total of 17 goals which the United Nations aims to achieve by the year 2030. It is a universal call to action, in a bid to end poverty, protect the planet and to ensure that all people can enjoy the diverse richness which Mother Nature exudes.
Out of the 17 goals, Sunway Lagoon’s Wildlife Park has, without equivocation, committed towards supporting two of these goals. These include Responsible Consumption and Production (Goal #12), aimed at ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns and Life on Land (Goal #15), which aims to protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss.
“For World Animal Day this year, we wanted to create an experience where people of all ages can enjoy the Wildlife Park, while learning more about how they can play a role in protecting our environment. All this ties in with our commitment to be more responsible and sustainable, yet presenting a unique and exciting opportunity for the public to enjoy, especially the younger ones, because they are the future of our planet, and will take on the baton towards environmental conservation,” said Sean Choo, General Manager of Sunway Lagoon.
The World Animal Day celebrations at Sunway Lagoon’s Wildlife Park also took on an exciting yet heartwarming turn this year, when the park announced its latest project of adopting a few river terrapins from Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia as a support towards the conservation works for these freshwater turtle in the country.
“The aim of the society is to bring about the recovery of depleted wild populations of turtles, with particular reference to freshwater turtles. With the same goal in mind, we are extremely honoured to have the opportunity to work with Sunway Lagoon on this project,” said Dr Chen Pelf Nyok, co-founder of Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia.
Paradoxically, Sunway Lagoon will also be constructing a pygmy goat enclosure at Pet Village that is made out of Ecobricks. The theme park targets to produce approximately 1000 Ecobricks, made using mineral water bottles collected from the recycle bins in the park. Each Ecobrick contains about 200g of non-recyclable plastic waste. With that amount of Ecobricks, the project aims to save approximately 200kg of non-recyclable plastics trash from the landfill. The theme park aims to construct and launch the enclosure by World Earth Day next year.
Be an Earth Warrior and make a difference for a more sustainable world.

The theme park aims to construct and launch the enclosure by World Earth Day next year.

one of the tasks was to fill the plastic bottle with plastic which been tear up to make it compact |

Young Chefs Academy@IPC Shopping Centre
It's a well spend with my son at IPC Shopping Centre, the baking session conducted by Young Chefs Academy. It's a fun time with mother and son as we get bonding time together to bake the Chocolate Banana Cream Pie, it's easy to make there's no oven required for this. For your info the Young Chefs Academy has three category to choose from Kinder Cooks, Junior Chefs, Senior Chefs. Sean didn't make it to the workshop as he has tuition to attend, but I bring along his little brother for this workshop and he baked the Chocolate Banana Cream Pie just for him. You can view the video below for photo that his brother enjoyed the pie.
It's been a long time since I visited the IPC Shopping Centre, yesterday we spend few hours there. You can view more pictures at the album, click on it to view. My son is attracted to the kids fun land he didn't want to stop playing there. The baking workshop was held next to the kids fun land.
Before the workshop starts, parenting blogger has some snack time while children go on to have their play time.
The shopping mall is family friendly shopping destination, we can find variants of tenants namely IKEA, B.I.G, Harvey Norman, H&M, Cotton On, and many more. If you like to know more of the IPC Shopping Centre can visit https://www.facebook.com/IPC.com.my

“The Scott’s Bright Little Explorers
programme is an ongoing project which
aims to stimulate children’s
curiosity and support children’s development
through on - ground educational
activities. It has been reported that humanity has only explored less than 5%
of the entire ocean to date1 and we believe
that aquariaKLCC will spark the curiosity
of our children to learn more about the underwater world and its inhabitants, ”
