Resorts World Genting's new mooncake flavour

Every year, I am sure you will be look forward for the Mid-Autumn Festival, its an important festival to the Chinese, coming only after the New Year or Spring Festival. This is good as you may be thinking what to give for loved ones and relatives or friends. This can be a nice gift for them, check out the new flavours as mentioned below.

This Mooncake Festival, Resorts World Genting marries tradition with innovation, as it presents a stunning selection of premium mooncakes. Beginning August 1 2016 and running until September 15 2016, Genting Highlands Malaysia’s favourite highland getaway will be able to take home boxes of delight in the shape of some tried-and-true flavours, and some unique creations.
Golden Jade with buttermilk custard

On Mid-Autumn night the harvest moon is supposed to be at its brightest and fullest, which gives rise to the celebration’s other name: Mooncake Festival.

The Mid-Autumn Festival originated as a harvest festival three thousand years ago, as a way for agrarian Chinese to celebrate the bounty of their fields and orchards. It was a time for the cessation of work, and one of the rare nights in which hard-working farmers stayed up late to admire the lustre of the full moon while enjoying the delicacies associated with the festival. Apart from pumpkin, pomelos, duck and wine, the central food focus of the festival was a dense, wheat flour pastry called the mooncake. So named for its circular shape, mooncakes were traditionally made with red bean paste, lotus paste and nuts.

I took some photos at First World Plaza, nice decoration there, click on the link to view it.

The selection ranges from the humble red bean paste mooncake, low-sugar white lotus paste, traditional lotus paste with single yolk, lotus paste with double yolk, Ng Yan [assorted nut mooncake] and Kam Tui (nuts and preserved fruit mooncake) to more subtly creative options such as green tea lotus paste and durian lotus paste, white lotus paste with black sesame yolk, Golden Jade with single yolk, Pu Er lotus paste with single yolk and blueberry paste mooncake with single yolk.

Resorts World Genting's moon cakes
Delicious new options for the modern mooncake fan include the light snow skin mango with pomelo, this is my favourite I love mango and it's perfect match to try this. If you like to eat white lotus paste, you'll also like the white lotus paste with dried mandarin orange jingsa, sweet corn paste with caramel nuts, cheese jingsa, Golden Jade with lime and nuts, and Golden Jade with buttermilk custard. These new alternatives are lighter in texture and flavour, while still espousing the traditional feel of the more established mooncake variants.

On sale during the Mid-Autumn period are specially designed God of Wealth cookies for two pieces. These shaped biscuits are made using the recipe for traditional mooncake pastry, and are thus, you know it that it is perfect with freshly brewed black tea.

Mooncake counters at the entrance of Cloud 9, Genting Palace, Good Friends Restaurant, Resort Hotel Lobby, Hainan Kitchen will be offering these festive offerings daily from 12.00 noon to 8.00 pm and the Wisma Genting OneHub will be from Monday to Friday from 11.00 am to 4.00 pm.

Good news to folks who like to eat moon cake. Resorts World Genting is offering a 30 percent discount for purchases of 50 boxes or above of any four-piece variant set. Do take note that the discount is not applicable to God of Wealth cookies and Kam Tui mooncakes.

All mooncakes sold are produced in Hotel’s mooncake production kitchen, where a team of specialised mooncake makers work tireless to come up with timeless and creative new culinary offerings with which to celebrate one of the most joyous seasons in the Chinese calendar of festivals.

Saturday afternoon outing with son

Look at this huge roti tissue, son cannot finish it alone so I ask my dear and family members to join me to eat. It is not cheap, Sri Melur restaurant is a famous restaurant. I don't know how they charge but my dear pay RM50 and balance he received is around RM2 plus change. It's my first time to order roti tissue there. We have ordered other food like tosai, nasi lemak, some fried chicken, etc.

This afternoon we supposed to purchase his BC textbook from nearby bookstore at the school. But the seller says that the books are still sealed in the box, we'll need to come back again next Monday to purchase. Son told me that now BC papers have two papers to do for exam instead of one paper. Oh boy! It's going to be hectic year for him and me.

Chinese New Year soon, have you start shopping for new clothing? I have enough of clothing and no plan to purchase any yet. His school going to start school tuition on 18 Jan, but son's not taking part as he needs to absent on Friday for outside tuition. So we decided not to give him tuition in school. Perhaps next year he can start tuition in the school, we'll see how it goes. He is poor in BM and BC, that's why now I have started him tuition in tuition centre instead of daycare tuition. Two years he was in daycare tuition and it didn't seem to pull up his grades.

He starting to like Chinese Calligraphy and class teacher has chosen him together with 14 students in class to participate in a contest. We don't know when is the contest but I told him that he'll need to practice to write perfect.

Chinese New Year performances at the mall, I have visited the Curve, you can click on the link to see more. Other than that, I have also upload photos and video to my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/mymomsbest/

It's not baby bump just layered of fats

Tomorrow back to school, so mommies are you ready to get start with school tomorrow? Yeah sending children to school then fetching them back or sending them to next destination maybe tuition or other activities. I have friends with schedule plan for their children. As for me, I have too as my son is poor in some subjects in school. He needs to attend tuition center to learn and get knowledge though I can try teaching him but bad news is he's not listening and it takes longer time to do. I saw his books and exercises, it's all getting tougher and harder which gives me out of hands to teach. I can't even read some words which printed in mandarin. Though we know the exam and studies are getting harder and tougher, we not giving up yet, but some parents have choose to transfer their child to another school. Some of them can fork out money for private or international school, but we can't afford so we prefer to continue this school. He knows he's poor in few subjects and he has no interest of changing school, he says he would try his best.

Anyway I put up the title up baby bump as many people even relatives think that I am expecting again. Oh well, I am not it's just layered of fats I am gaining. Yeah gaining weight for me is easy and losing weight is tough for me.

It's fifth day of Hari Raya today, we just stay at home beside sending son to tuition. My dear starts work tomorrow as he took leaves to rest at home. This coming Thursday my dad will have his right eye's laser. My dad told me it cost RM3200 each time laser, it's a cost for health and better eye sight. He's already have high blood pressure for many years, now he's also taking medicines of diabetes and high cholesterol. Is it due to aging? He is 70 years old this coming December.

Road accidents during festive season

It's festive season, so everyone do drive safe and don't speed. This morning I on way to go pick up my son from tuition centre and I saw it's a long queue of cars at traffic light. I saw two cars in terrible condition, one car without air bag and windscreen is badly damage. An ambulance has come to pick up the injury driver to hospital. Two cars collision near the traffic light of USJ 5 and USJ 4.

In another accident, a blogger friend of mine had a minor injury too but his car accidents was last night. A motorcycle speeding and hit pedestrian then hitting his car.

Talking about road accidents, I have to decline some invitation for food review. One of the reasons is the venue is far away from me, I need to drive in the night so that's a bad idea because waze app always bring me a long way home and I often get lost. No doubt without waze app, I maybe more lost.

There was an event I attended in Kuala Lumpur, it was over at 6 pm then heavy traffic jam plus rain for me to get home. I reached home at 8pm in the night, 2 hours of traffic jam and holding your pee which is serious as federal highway doesn't have any stop for toilet break.

Oh well, let's get back to road safety yeah, drive safe and always check your car headlights and tail lights make sure everything is working.
