McDonald's Malaysia Drive-Thru On-the-Go Lifestyles

Ronald McDonald; Felina Lim, Senior Director of Operations of McDonald’s Malaysia; Siti Hajar binti Johor, representative from the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR); Azmir Jaafar, Managing Director and Local Operating Partner of McDonald’s Malaysia; and Andrew Samuel, Director of Operations of McDonald’s Malaysia after it was announced that McDonald’s Malaysia successfully set a new record for the “Largest Participation for a Drive-Thru Challenge in 24 Hours”  during the Drive-Thru Weekend Challenge held from 26-28 April.

Good day to dear readers and visitors, how's your day? Everyone has got busy lifestyle, and most people having the on-the-go lifestyle. We want to have a quick grab of food and meal if possible whenever we are in the rush. No worry you know there's McDonald's drive-thru it is very convenient for everyone these days.

McDonald's Malaysia is placing greater focus in its Drive-Thru business across the country in response to changing trends among customers who are increasingly seeking convenience, as well as fast and friendly service to complement their on-the-go lifestyles.

Busy mom life doesn't stop me from doing what I love. I go to the McDonald's drive-thru to buy food for my son. By the way do you know McDonald’s Malaysia is placing greater focus in its Drive-Thru business across the country in response to changing trends among customers who are increasingly seeking convenience, as well as fast and friendly service to complement their on-the-go lifestyles. The quick service restaurant’s leadership in the Drive-Thru business was further amplified during the recent Drive-Thru Weekend Challenge held from 26-28 April. Over the three days, a total of 473,860 cars zoomed off with their favourite McDonald’s meal from 167 McDonald’s Drive-Thru restaurants nationwide. The number of cars, if parked bumper to bumper, would be roughly equivalent to 150 times the length of the first Penang Bridge.

According to McDonald’s Malaysia Managing Director and Local Operating Partner Azmir Jaafar, the company is targeting to open 20 new McDonald’s Drive-Thru restaurants this year. This will complement the existing 167 Drive-Thru restaurants already in operations today.

“The Drive-Thru segment of our business has seen significant growth since the opening of our first Drive-Thru restaurant at McDonald’s Titiwangsa in 1988. And since then, the Drive-Thru segment has no doubt become an important key driver for the company, as Drive-Thru window sales contribute close to 50% of total sales for all 167 McDonald’s Drive-Thru restaurants. On top of that, we are seeing an average of 10 percent year-on-year growth in our Drive-Thru sales for 1Q 2019,” said Azmir.

“By 2021, McDonald’s Malaysia aims for 70 percent of all McDonald’s restaurants nationwide to be Drive-Thru restaurants,” added Azmir.

McDonald’s Malaysia places greater focus in its Drive-Thru business across Malaysia in response to changing trends among customers who are increasingly seeking convenience, as well as fast and friendly service to complement their on-the-go lifestyles.

Congratulations to McDonald's for successfully setting a new record on 27 April for the highest vehicle count accessing McDonald's Drive-Thru restaurants over the course of 24 hours, with a total of 164,235 vehicles. This led the company to be officially recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records for achieving the "Largest Participation for a Drive-Thru Challenge in 24 Hours".

An exciting consumer activation in conjunction with the Drive-Thru Weekend was also launched on the McDonald’s app from 17-30 April. The Drive-Thru Hero Challenge created much excitement amongst consumers as it encouraged them to drive-thru and check-in at as many McDonald’s Drive-Thru restaurants as possible to stand a chance of being among the Top 10 Drive-Thru Heroes. With 1 stop equalling 10 points, the Top 10 Heroes received cash based on their points. For others, every 5 stops at McDonald’s Drive-Thru unlocked offers on McDonald’s menu items.

McDonald's Malaysia had previously held the record for most vehicles participating in a Drive-Thru Challenge in August 2008, where 18,677 vehicles drove up to 53 McDonald's restaurants nationwide from 12pm to 3pm. A year prior, the record was 7,186 vehicles passing through 49 McDonald's Drive-Thru restaurants between 12pm to 2pm.

McDonald's Drive-Thru gives the convenient not just to parent but also to working adults too. Many of my friends have got morning rush to work, there's no way they can have their meal on time so they drive-thru to purchase meals to bring office to eat.

Nevertheless, we need to stay organized but being on the go can make it hard to stay organized when you have so many places to go and do in so little time. The list goes on for mom on the go like school drop off, pick up, sports, tuition, park days etc. When you have an on the go lifestyle, you can think of McDonald's Drive-Thru.

Cold Storage Kids Run Returns

The Cold Storage Kids Run is back for its second year running and is better than ever! This year’s Kids Run featured a longer route and a challenging obstacle course that promised an exciting day out for children and adults alike. Part of an initiative by Cold Storage Malaysia to promote Malaysians on the importance of living a healthy lifestyle, the 2018 edition of the Kids Run aims to promote healthy routines from a tender age. Indeed a fun time out for son and me though his eldest brother unable to join us because he has to go for last tuition for Chinese language.

Malaysia is one of the top four most overweight countries in Asia Pacific and the rapid rise of overweight children is alarming, as they are at a higher risk of becoming obese as adults and that could lead to many health complications.1 With the advancement of technology, most children and parents take for granted the importance of regular exercises and a balanced meal. Couple that with parents busy schedules, children tend to eat unhealthy food most of the time and do not get enough important nutrients that their body needs in order to grow. We need to be good example for our children, it's good to have outdoor activities from time to time. We have a fun time last year at Cold Storage Kids Run, this year is our 2nd year to take part. You can click it to read about it.

Cold Storage Malaysia is leading the conversation on promoting the importance of an active lifestyle as well as an adequate diet to the public, especially to the future leaders of our country. The Cold Storage Kids Run further emphasis our commitment in inspiring both children and adults, to make healthy food choices by providing a fine selection of fresh and high quality groceries in our stores. This event is part of our continuous effort in educating children on the importance of a balanced lifestyle since young as it could encourage them to start adopting to healthy habits in the future. This year they also bringing the cheer up to 40 MyKasih Foundation primary school students beneficiaries from Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Lanjan (Asli) joining the fun-run towards a healthier lifestyle. A total of RM40,000 from the Cold Storage Kids Run 2018 was channelled to MyKasih Foundation - a non-profit organisation that aims to help the less fortunate in Malaysia as part of Cold Storage Malaysia CSR effort.

Speaking at the event, Pierre-Olivier Deplanck, Managing Director of GCH Retail (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. said, “We wanted to create a fun activity that our customers and family can participate and at the same time the activity should consist of educational messages that is explained in an exciting manner. Once again, Cold Storage Malaysia is proud to call the Kids Run initiative as one of our best effort in promoting the importance of living a balanced and healthy lifestyle.”

Children today are smarter than we give them credit for. We believe that the duty of educating the children on living a healthy lifestyle falls on their parents. Therefore, by encouraging parents to also take part, the adults can lead by example and become a positive role model to their children when it comes to leading a healthy lifestyle.

MyKasih Foundation Chairman and Co-Founder, Tan Sri Dr Ngau Boon Keat, expressed his gratitude to Cold Storage for their generosity and continued support of MyKasih Foundation. “We are thankful to receive this RM 40,000 contribution which will go towards the MyKasih ‘Love My School’ student bursary programme to aid students from low-income households. The foundation currently supports 6,500 students in 101 schools, out of which, 30 are Orang Asli primary schools.”

In addition to providing the students with cashless bursaries, the programme includes supplementary activities such as tuition, annual sports days, edible garden projects and installation of computer labs for 21st century learning.

“We truly appreciate this gesture from Cold Storage and hope that other companies will come forward with their charitable giving to support the MyKasih ‘Love My School’ programme”, said Tan Sri Dr Ngau.

Through the Cold Storage Kids Run, we hope to make a change by partnering up with multiple brands that share the same vision as us.

“On behalf of Cold Storage Malaysia, we would like to extend our gratitude towards our event's main sponsors, Emborg, Pediasure, Korea Agro - Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, Bestari, Darlie, Freedom, Goodday, Julies, Kewpie Malaysia, Kinder Joy, Milo, Prego, Bega, Sunquick, Tiger, PetitMiam, Anmum, O’ Fresh, Enfagrow, Facklemann, Garden Basket, Hot Wheels, KMT, Philips, Wyeth Nutrition Malaysia . We would also like to thank all our participants that joined us in making the Cold Storage Kids Run 2018 a huge success,” said Deplanck.

We stayed til the end for the lucky draw but we didn't win, there are attractive prizes to win and one of it is Legoland Themepark Hotel at Johor Bharu. We have a great time together, this year we get to experience the run in the mall, my son had a fall in mall but we manage to finish the run in time for the Fruity Run. If you are thinking of bonding time with children it's good to take part in family run together.

Milky Way Play Space @Paradigm Mall

Its March School Holidays, whats your plan for yourself and your kids? Last Sunday, we brought kids to Paradigm Mall to play the Milky Way Play Space. It's fun playground for the kids as they get to spend 2 hours playing and it's only RM58 for each child. This is suitable for children age 4 years old to 15 years old. It's good for parents who wants children to workout, yeah my sons have a good sweat at the Milky Way Play Space. There are seating areas near to the playground, parents can wait and watch their child.

Besides education, it's good to give kids time for playing. Safety first and my son is having buckle up before he starts to play and there's safety helmet for each child to wear. There are seven kids activities at the Milky Way Play Space. They are as following:

12 Obstacles Course
Wall Climbing
The Amazing Slide
Trampoline
Bird Nest
9D VR Coaster
5D Space Traveller

My children have a good time at the Milky Way Play Space you can view the video to find out.
My son is having good inside the bird nest, yeah he's going up and down inside. He had a good time jumping trampoline with his brother and other kids there. Good to spare them time for playing rather than keeping them for just studies. We need to balance lifestyle in education and play time.
How often do kids get sweat? Most children nowadays are staying indoor more than outdoors. This is good sweat for them and exercise at the same time. I know outdoors are hot during the afternoon hours, but now you can have the children play indoor in the shopping mall.
Good experienced on the 9D VR Coaster and 5D Traveller, it's first time both brothers see it.
Now get ready for the Tiger Cub Road Challenge 2018, its happening at Paradigm Mall. Does your child like challenge? Then he/she can take part and be the fastest to complete the Tiger Cub Road Challenge 2018. On 20 March 2018, one of the participants time lapse was 4 minutes plus. If you like your child to beat his score, go to take part this challenge.

If you like to win a ticket for your child to play, the ticket is RM58 where child can play for 2 hours. Stand this chance to win a ticket from me, by joining my giveaway on Facebook, click on the link to take part. Giveaway ends on 22 March 2018.

Mission to help Ejen Ali @KidZania Kuala Lumpur

happy sons have completed the mission to help Ejen Ali
This March School holidays my sons help Ejen Ali to complete the Mission Possible at KidZania Kuala Lumpur. The mission begins from 18 March to 31 March 2017. If you haven't bring your children to KidZania this is time where you can earn more Kidzos after completion of the 4 main missions.

The task are simple, just complete 4 main mission: NEURO, TEKNO, INVISO and KOMBAT to equip themselves with M.A.T.A skills and qualify for the Misson Possible Grand Finale. All missions accomplished will determine which M.A.T.A agent will suit them.

About Ejen Ali, Ejen Ali is a story of a naive, under-achieving boy who accidentally binds himself to an intelligence device called IRIS belonging to an espionage agency named M.A.T.A forcing him to serve as a secret agent whilst juggling his already chaotic life. Through his missions, Ali grows from being a dreamer to a doer, a loser to a leader. A boy who when faced with impossible duties and challenging circumstances, discovers his true potential.
Look out for these sign about on Mission Possible, it's open for kids above 4 years old. Each complete mission they earn 20 Kidzo. Each mission would take 20minutes to complete.

No parent allow to enter together for the mission, no worry the tasks are going to train them up. They can do it without mommy, I am patiently waiting for them complete each tasks at KidZania.

Besides completing the Mission to help Ejen Ali, my sons have fun at KidZania and fun place for children to find many interesting job tasks and earn Kidzos.

One of the mission is Agent in disguise, INVISO. They are experts in the art of concealment, infiltration and undercover.
Ejen Ali with my son

Visit www.kidzania.com.my for a full mission brief or call at 1 300 88 KIDZ (5439) for assistance.

I know life is a challenge and do you like adventure? I have been to the World's Tallest Indoor Tube Slide it is located in Empire Shopping Gallery. Bear in mind that it is not for everyone to take part, there is need to check on the height of the person. If you have weak heart, don't go for it. I went for it because I like it and I scream inside the tube. LOL

How tall is the indoor tube slide, it is like 5 storey height. You need to see it for yourself, if you are at Empire shopping mall. The shopping mall is nearby Subang Parade, and Carrefour not far away. If you have tried the slide there let me know how you feel. :D
