Hamleys in ONE UTAMA shopping centre

The finest toyshop in the world, Hamleys is bringing good news to Malaysians! The first flagship store will open its door to the public in One Utama on the 30^th of November. For more than 250 years, Hamleys of London has been the Finest Toy Shop in the World, bringing magical experiences and joy to children of all ages.

The Group Deputy Managing Director of Ludendo Groupe, Mr. Rudolph Hidalgo, Chief Executive Officer of Hamleys, Mr. Gudjon Reynisson, Acting British High Commissioner to Malaysia, Mr. Ray Kyles are present together with Chairman of GRV Toy Store Sdn Bhd, Dato' Ishak bin Osman and Directors of GRV Toy Store Sdn Bhd, Mr Kim Manaf, and Ms Noor Azlin to officiate the first Hamleys flagship store in Malaysia.

In 2013, Hamleys extends significantly further than the famous London toyshop. Hamleys is now a global brand with 30 stores across 12 countries and territories including India, Russia, United Arab Emirates and Scandinavia.

The popularity of Hamleys toyshop, besides giving customers a fun and unique in-store experience, is contributed by their commitment to toy safety. All the toys are functionally and laboratory tested in order to comply with the relevant Toy Safety Directives. Regardless of locations, all Hamleys toys for sale outside of Europe are required to meet the same international requirements.

Suppliers of Hamleys toys must agree and sign the Memorandum of Understanding with the International Council of Toy Industries (ICTI). This is a measure Hamleys takes to fulfill their commitment towards promotion of toy safety standards and social responsibility such as environmental concerns, fair and lawful employment and workplace safety.

As a member of British Toy and Hobby Association (BTHA), Hamleys ensures the packaging and labeling are factual, accurate and in compliance with all relevant legislation. BTHA was established in 1944 to represent the interests of British toy manufacturers and to raise standards of practice in the industry. Parallel to that, Hamleys champions adequate protection of their toys while in transit to ensure that the toys will remain fit for purpose upon arrival.  Whenever possible, Hamleys uses recycled materials for the packaging to reduce the environmental impact.

Hamleys chooses their suppliers with delicate consideration. All suppliers are expected to maintain appropriate Quality Management Systems (ISO9001 or similar) to consistently provide products that are in compliance with all relevant legislation, directives, standards and the policies to limit their environmental footprints.

Hamleys wooden toy range complies with FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) approved timber whenever and wherever possible.

Hamleys stores outside of the UK and Ireland are operated by franchise partners who are supported by the Hamleys UK team. The Hamleys UK support includes store development, staff training and product selection to ensure the Hamleys experience is delivered locally, guaranteeing fun events, quality toys and memories to cherish.

In conjunction with the opening of the first Hamleys flagship store in Malaysia that spreads over 20,478sq. ft., the first 500 shoppers will receive an Angry Bird card games worth RM20.90. On the opening day, there will be Ben 10 Bloxx character walkabout and free popcorn sampling. We will have many opening offers, amongst them: Purchase a Transformer Beast Hunter Deluxe (RM59.90) and receive a free Best Hunter Legion (RM24.90) and purchase a Playskool Step Start Walk & Ride (RM149.90) and receive a free Spiderman Vehicle (RM59.90).

The Hamleys flagship store is located in Lot F319, 1^st Floor, I Utama Shopping Mall
No 1, Lebuh Bandar Utama, Bandar Utama Damansara, 47800 Petaling Jaya. Selangor Darul Ehsan. The opening time is 10am to 10pm daily.
